We use cacao for many different products. We mainly know it as the filling for, for example, bonbons or chocolate. But there are plenty of other ways to use cacao products.

This is one of the best-known Belgian chocolate makers, frequently seen outside of Belgium as well. With cacao callets, you can easily apply melted cacao in various recipes.

Cacao products in various forms
Many different cacao products are made from cacao beans. The main ingredient of chocolate is, of course, cacao. This is extracted from the cacao bean. In addition, other ingredients are extracted from the bean:
- Cacao nibs: cacao beans are cleaned and then roasted. After roasting, the beans are 'broken.' The shell of the bean breaks open and is blown away, leaving only the core (the nib).
- Cacao mass: the nibs are finely ground into a thick paste. This is called the cacao mass.
- cacao butter: the fat extracted from the mass is the butter. You can use the product for filling cakes and pastries. You can use the ready-to-use variant directly. If you prefer a variant in stock, you can also opt for the powder variant. This can be diluted when you need it. The powder is, of course, much longer lasting than ready-to-use cacao butter.
- Cacao powder: the part remaining from the mass (after the fat has been extracted and butter has been made) is ground into a powder.
