It is recommended to eat linseed daily, but always in moderation. The Netherlands Nutrition Centre advises a temporary intake of around 15 to 45 grams of linseed per day. Consuming more than this may be harmful. Linseed contains cyanogenic compounds, which the body can convert into cyanide when consumed in large quantities. This may interfere with breathing and, in extreme cases, cause cardiac arrest.
