    These vanilla pods add a delicious vanilla flavour to your dishes. This Tahitian Vanilla has a fruity, floral flavour with notes of cherry and almond. The sticks are packed in an airtight tube, preserving the vanilla flavour.

    What is Tahitensis Vanilla?

    Tahitensis Vanilla is a species of orchid from Tahiti that produces vanilla. It is mainly produced in Tahiti, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Niue and the Cook Islands. In the Pacific Ocean there is an island called 'Vanilla Island', this island really exists! On this island, 80% of Tahitian vanilla is produced. The vanilla is fertilised by hand and harvested after nine months. This vanilla owes its flavour to Tahiti's tropical climate. You can recognise caramel, aniseed and chocolate in it. The vanilla is subtle in flavour and delicious with the above aromas. It is a popular ingredient in sweet dishes. 

    Using Brand New Cake Vanilla Sticks Tahitensis
    Because this vanilla is susceptible to damage from heat, it is best used in cold or frozen dishes. You can use them with fruits, cakes, ice cream, puddings, sauces, marinades and even in iced tea, among other things. 

    When using vanilla, it is important that it is fresh and not dry to the touch. Not using them right away? Then store them in an airtight container or bag. If the sticks do dry out, grind them as finely as possible. You can then sift them through your sweet dish to give your dish an extra boost of vanilla. 

    1. Cut the stick lengthwise into two halves. 
    2. Use the blunt side of your knife to remove the seeds from the cut-open stick in one go. 
    3. Add the seeds to your recipe and, above all, don't throw away the fruit! Does your recipe in question call for liquid ingredients? Then add the fruit to it to intensify the vanilla flavour. 
    4. Using only the seeds? Then store the fruit in a jar of sugar and add more and more 'empty' vanilla pods afterwards. You create the tastiest vanilla sugar very easily this way. This vanilla sugar is much stronger and tastier than other vanilla sugar (in a sachet). 


    The difference between Tahitensis and Madagascar vanilla
    The vanilla content of Tahitensis Vanilla is between 0.7 and 1.8% lower than that of the 'Vanilla Planifolia' (the Madagascar Vanilla variety). In addition, aniseed molecules are granted with the Tahitensis Vanilla. Plus Tahitensis Vanilla contain between 40 and 45% water unlike Bourbon Vanilla. If you use Tahitensis Vanilla, half a pod is enough to get the vanilla flavours and aromas. Tahitian Vanilla is pickled differently from Madagascar vanilla and rinsed in clear water, a process unique to Tahiti.

    Storage the vanilla beans away from heat or light. It is recommended to store the sticks in a cupboard. It is also important to keep the vanilla pods at room temperature. Moreover, after opening the packaging, it is important to store the sticks in a plastic bag with the air squeezed out or in a vacuum bag. 

    However tempting it may be to save vanilla beans for a special occasion. They are best when used within a few weeks of purchase. Beans dry out slowly over time.
