A speculaas board is an old-fashioned shape for biscuits that used to be used by bakers. Nowadays, this craft has been absorbed into mechanisation and this part of the bakers' craft has changed a lot. With this speculaas board, you can still make beautiful speculaas dollops in the traditional way yourself.

Recipe for making Speculaas dough
Requirements: - 150 grams of butter - 125 grams of light brown caster sugar - 1 teaspoon of salt - 2 level tablespoons of speculaaskruiden (10 grams) - 1 tablespoon of milk - 50 grams of shaved almonds - 200 grams of self-rising baking flour (or 200 grams of flour with 1 teaspoon )
Preparation: Mix the butter, sugar and salt until creamy, then add the tablespoon of milk. Mix the self-rising baking flour with the speculaaskruiden and sift this over the butter mass and stir until combined. Once everything has been stirred well, proceed to knead the dough.
Let the speculaas dough now rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight). Let the dough come to room temperature and process with the Speculaas board.
How to use the Speculaas board? - Grease the board with cooking oil -Now after 2 hours re-grease the board -Best the board lightly with some flour -Take the dough out of the fridge after at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) -Let the dough come to room temperature -.Then press the dough well into the speculaas board and cut away the remnants -Turn the board over and tap so that the cake falls onto the baking tray -Sprinkle the speculaas lightly with flour again if necessary and fill again
-Bake the speculaas +/- 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 degrees.
