About Colour Mill
Colour Mill is a family-owned Australian company that has been specialising in the production of food colourants, particularly for baked goods, for many years. The company has over 30 years of experience in the baking industry, so they have seen various trends come and go. One trend that has always remained is food colouring.
Colour Mill, however, found the supply of colouring agents to be limited and wanted to include colouring agents that coloured foods better. So they decided to come up with a wide range of colouring agents themselves that also colour incredibly well. And they succeeded! After many tests and processes, modern formulas were developed with which Colour Mill managed to bring to the market a wide collection of colourants that perform better than traditional gel colouring.
What has Colour Mill done?
The brand has removed all water-based materials and replaced them with baking and cake-friendly oils. These oils mix much better than water-based gels. In addition, a specialised 'micro-milling process' ensures that the colours are grain- and stripe-free. As a result, Colour Mill's dyes give better colour to your baked goods and other foods, but you will need less of them than another brand's dye gel.
