The vivid red hue also ensures your cake looks as stunning as it tastes. The mix is delicious on its own, but you can elevate it further with royal icing, buttercream, crème Chantilly or cream cheese.

    Decorating Your Red Velvet Cake
    Once cooled, slice the cake horizontally with a cake saw or serrated knife to create layers of your desired thickness. Spread each layer with royal icing, buttercream, Chantilly cream, or cream cheese, then stack and coat the sides for an extra-creamy finish. Any remaining crumbs can be pressed onto the sides or used as a decorative topping. Feel free to let your creativity shine and finish the cake any way you like.

    Beyond the American classic, the mix can also be used to create a Heart Cake, a Naked Red Velvet Cake, or Valentine’s Day Red Velvet pastries.

    Recipe for Ø 26–28 cm:
    For a 26–28 cm cake, combine 500 g mix, 100 g vegetable oil, three medium eggs (150 g), and 200 ml water.

    Method

    1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (fan 160°C).
    2. Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature.
    3. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil and water.
    4. Beat the batter on medium speed until it becomes light and fluffy, about 6–8 minutes.
    5. Pour the batter into a greased cake tin, filling it halfway to three-quarters full, and bake for about 35 minutes.

    Once cooled, store in a cool, dry place.
