Brand New Cake Baking Beans 500g Baking beans are essential for when blind baking your creations. But what exactly is blind baking? Blind baking is a way of ensuring that the bottom does not rise. So you do this using these reusable ceramic blind baking beans. You place these on top of the base to be baked (as a kind of backing filling).
Tip: always put a layer of baking paper between the base and the beans.
Working with the Brand New Cake Baking Beans
Roll out the dough (thinly) and line a greased cake tin. Leave the sides of the dough hanging over the mould. Then prick a few holes in the dough with a fork
Pick up a piece of baking paper and place it on the dough base.
Distribute the blind baking beans on the baking paper and bake the base as indicated.
Remove the base from the oven and remove the blind baking beans using the baking paper.
Cut off the sides of the baked cake base. If desired, you can now bake the cake base for the second time in the oven, possibly with a filling.
The big advantage is that the blind baking beans are reusable! This 500-gram pack is enough for a hefty cake. We recommend hand-washing the blind baking beans only.
